Issues with home trades are unlikely and the most common problem would have to be varying degrees of cleanliness. If you encounter any problems, see to it that the firm or organization is informed. However, bear in mind that most home trading firms do not accept responsibilities for whatever damages that may be incurred.

In order to prevent any issues or misunderstandings, you may ask for a referral before consenting to a trade. Likewise, it will be to your advantage if you will lay down the terms and agreement in an informal written contract. Most firms have sample contracts which can be printed and used whenever you trade houses.

In addition, you should provide your partner firm with important contact numbers, details on insurance, how to use appliances, information on household items, and enough food and drinks for your guests. Prior to the exchange, you should ensure the cleanliness of the house and that there is enough room in the drawer and closet for your guests to unpack. Valuables should be secured in a place or locked room not accessible to your partner.

At the same time, the property of your trading partner should remain exactly as it is before you leave. The furniture and house should be kept clean and fresh linens should be on the bed. If your stay at the house of your partner was enjoyable, you can leave behind a bottle of wine or basket of fruits as a token of gratitude.

Home exchange is one of the easiest ways to enjoy a long vacation. It is a better alternative to renting vacation homes.
